This article will give you some tips and tricks, when you set up your e-bike equipped with enviolo Automatic for the first time.
System functionality
The Automatic system can be integrated within the e-bike drive system and provides automatic shifting for the rider at all times. It can be utilized with the drive system remote controller. If supported by the drive system, the rider has the option to switch between "manual" and "automatic" modes. For details, please look at the owner´s manual of the drive system in use, since this is handled different by each drive system manufacturer.

3-button controller
On the 3-button controller the pre-settings are completed through the desktop software. Typically the 3-buttons are assigned (slow, medium, and fast) according to the bike type and gearing specification.
Grip shifter
In automatic mode the system automatically adjusts the ratio to maintain the rider´s preferred cadence.
The rider can choose their ideal cadence setting by rotating the grip. The blue LED “RPM” display
indicates the cadence setting. In manual mode the rider is able to shift on their own electronically. Like the manual controller the steeper the “hill” on the LED display, the lower the ratio for climbing.
Calibration
Warning
Please make sure to turn off the motor assist, when conducting the calibration, otherwise the result might be a faulty calibration, not offering you the full ratio range.
Integrated system
Turn the system power on.
Initiate the calibration process through the drive system menu. For details review the eBike drive system manual.
Pedal the eBike lightly through the entire calibration process (preferably on a stand with the rear wheel off the ground), while the system shifts from full underdrive to full overdrive multiple times and completes the calibration process. This process can take ~25 seconds.

Setup
In automatic mode the system automatically adjusts the ratio to maintain the rider´s preferred pedal speed. The rider can set up the interface to their personal preferences. Either through their e-bike drive system menu or an enviolo Automatic controller.
Set up personal preferences.
- Find your desired cadence: start with 50 and increase (or decrease) with steps of 5 to 10 RPM (cadence) until you have found the most pleasant setting.
Make sure to test ride the bike after every chance in the settings, so you really experience the difference.
In manual mode, the rider is able to shift on their own electronically. For this behavior the system is simulating gears.
Your bike is ready! Go out and enjoy!
