This guide will help you to shift smoothly again with your manual interface and manual controller.
Problem diagnosis
- The hub can not be shifted (blocked) from either full overdrive or full underdrive.
Solution
To fix the issue, you will need to perform several steps, covered in optimizing manual shifting:
- Replace the One-turn interface.
- Ensure the cable slack is set between 0.5-1mm.
- Ensure there are no tight bends in the cable routing.
- Ensure that you are using suitable cable housing.
Use movement to verify full-range shifting
Note that the system can only shift ~50% during a standstill. Use the help of some movement to verify if the system can shift through the full range. Without movement, the system can only shift halfway.
1 - Replace the One-turn MHI
One-turn MHIs (manual hub interface) have a smaller radius of the interface, which will lead to higher shift forces. It can be replaced by a Multi-turn interface to lower the shift power needed.
Currently, enviolo only produces Multi-turn interfaces. If you have a One-turn, you should order a new MHI and replace the one you have. See this guide for more details:
2 - Ensure the cable slack is set between 0.5-1mm
Manual controllers should always have a cable slack between 0,5 and 1 mm. See this guide for detailed instructions:
3 - Ensure there are no bends in the cable routing
Ensure there are no tight bends in the cable routing. This can occur with more complicated internal routing.
4 - Use suitable cable housing
Ensure you are using suitable cable housing. Jagwire housing tends to run a little smoother. See this guide for more:
If problem persists
If the problem persists, then you may want to verify if it's the hub itself (and not the manual shifting system) that is stuck. In those instances, follow one of these guides, depending on your axle mount:
- How to unblock a 135mm solid axle hub that is stuck
- How to unblock a 148mm modular axle hub that is stuck
Done
If you have followed all the steps above you should be able to shift smoothly. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.
