The shift cable installation requires a multi-step process as described below. There are 2 different interfaces the One-Turn and Multi-Turn, which require different cable lengths. To simplify the assembly we also created a tool. Please select the according tab below to follow the correct installation process:

Install cable end hardware only by pulling cables at the end of the housing. Never rotate the grip with cables unattached, as they can bind inside the barrel adjuster. Pass the shift cables through the appropriate cable housing and ensure the housing is seated completely into the shifter. Thread both barrel adjusters completely clockwise (in) to provide maximum installation slack. Pull the underdrive shift cable, marked green or black, firmly at the rear axle location until it stops, checking to make sure that the shift indicator [N] goes completely flat (TR, SP and Twist Display controllers), or that the grip rotates fully in the counter-clockwise direction shown (CT, CA, CO and Twist controllers) ,viewed from the right side of the bicycle). Insert the underdrive cable (marked black or green) into the according fixture on the cable cutting tool. Ensure that the display is in full underdrive by pulling the cable to the maximum position (display icon should be flat). Using a 2mm allen, secure the cable and torque to 1.5-2.0 Nm (13-18 in-lbs). Cut the excess cable as short as possible, at a maximum of 2.0mm from the end of the underdrive cable stop. Ensure that the cable housing is seated fully at the barrel adjuster. Cut the excess cable as short as possible, at a maximum of 2.0mm from the end of the UD cable stop [Q]. Pull the overdrive shift cable firmly at the manual hub interface until it stops, checking to make sure that the shift indicator [Q] goes into a steep hill (TR, SP and Twist Display controllers), or that the grip rotates fully in the clockwise direction shown (CT, CA, CO and Twist controllers), viewed from right side of bicycle). Make sure the underdrive shift cable and UD cable stop are free and unobstructed Now insert the overdrive cable latch in the according fixture and guide the overdrive cable through. Using a 2mm allen, secure the cable and torque to 1.5-2.0 Nm (13-18 in-lbs). Cut the cable flush with the cable stop fixture and tuck the remaining cable length into the overdrive latch. Ensure that the cable housing is seated fully at the controller. The cable hardware should appear as shown. |
