This guide will help you to shift smoothly again with the manual controller.
Problem diagnosis
Under high loads and/or torques the hub can not or is limited in shifting and will only shift, once the force on the pedal is reduced. In these instances, the latch on the cable ends could also open.
Possible solutions
To fix the issue:
- Replace the interface.
- Ensure the cable slack is set between 0.5-1mm.
- Ensure that the system can shift through the full range with rotation, but low loads.
- Ensure there are no tight bends in the cable routing.
- Ensure you are using a suitable cable housing. Jagwire housing tends to run a little smoother.
- If the issue persists please reach out to our service center.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
1 - Replace the interface
Should a One-turn interface be installed, the smaller radius of the interface will lead to higher shift forces. It can be replaced by a Multi-turn interface to lower the shift power needed.
2 - Ensure the cable slack is set between 0.5-1mm
Manual controllers should always have a cable slack between 0,5 and 1 mm.
See this guide for detailed instructions:
3 - No bends in cable routing
Ensure there are no tight bends in the cable routing. Can mostly occur with more complicated internal routing.
4 - Use a suitable cable housing
Ensure you are using suitable cable housing. Jagwire housing tends to run a little smoother.
5. The system can only shift ~50% during stand still
Ensure that the system can shift through the full range by some movement. Without movement of the hub, the system can only shift 50% of the full ratio.
Ready to roll
If you have followed all the steps above you should be able to shift smoothly. If the problem persists, please reach out to our support team.
