Cadence refers to the number of rotations per minute (RPM) that a cyclist pedals. Essentially, it measures how fast you're turning the pedals. A higher cadence means you're pedaling faster, while a lower cadence means you're pedaling slower.
As a cyclist, you aim to maintain a cadence that feels comfortable and efficient based on your fitness level, terrain, and riding goals. A steady cadence helps maintain consistent power output and have a pleasant ride. Your preferred cadence largely depends on your own preferences, e.g. more sportive commuting riders often use a cadence of 85 RPM, while relaxed Urban riders might feel more comfortable at a cadence of 50 RPM. We suggest you initially find a cadence you feel comfortable at. Once you ve set it, the enviolo system will always provide the correct ratio for you.
Cadence Setpoint
The enviolo cadence setpoint is the target cadence you request the enviolo system to control to. This can be in your eBike display, the enviolo app, or even the enviolo CLiQ Controller on your handlebar. The enviolo system will then always shift towards this cadence setpoint. In this way, the rider will have a seamless ride in the same cadence whether you are speeding up or slowing down.
