This retrofit guide explains how to assemble the rear wheel on your e-bike after the wheel has been fitted with an Enviolo Automatic (AutomatiQ) interface. This is part of a series of 5 retrofit guides to install the new Enviolo Automatic.

Rear wheel assembly options

We offer instructions for two different AUTOMATiQ rear wheel assemblies. Follow the right guide for your assembly:

• A - 135mm solid axle hub
• B - 148mm modular axle hub

Step-by-step instructions

A - With a 135mm solid axle hub

• 17mm long socket (only for Extreme hub)

Assembly instructions

1. Place the rear wheel into the frame.
   • Make sure not to obstruct or pinch the wire harness and main connector.
2. Orient the chain around the AUTOMATiQ hub interface and onto the sprocket.
   • In some cases, it is easiest to remove the chain from the front chainring to ease rear wheel assembly.
   • Locate the rear wheel speed sensor boss on the AUTOMATiQ Hub Interface.
   • The chain should not catch on this sensor when fitting the wheel.
3. Slide one non-turn washer (A) each onto each axle end.
   • The serrations of the non-turn washer must bear against the dropout of the frame.
   • The rectangular boss must engage in the dropout of the frame.
4. Mount the axle nuts (B) and tighten to 30-40Nm.
5. Finally, assemble the power cable carefully by inserting it into the AUTOMATiQ hub interface (C).

B - With a 148mm modular axle hub

Assembly instructions

1. Place the disc brake rotor on the hub.
   • 148mm variants require an extra adapter to be placed under the rotor and need to be tightened with the longer bolts supplied with the kit.
     
   • Tighten the rotor bolts as specified by the brake rotor manufacturer.
   • For rim and roller brake applications, connect the rear brake according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Place the torque arm onto the axle and orientate it in an angle that it slides into the boss on the brake adapter or dropout.
   • The cable housing should be able to enter the hub interface in a straight line.
3. Place the rear wheel in the frame with the torque adapter sliding into the slot in the dropout or disc adapter.
4. Install the left and right side adapters securing the axle with the M6 bolts to 10-15Nm.
5. On the right side, ensure the spring washer is positioned between the hub interface and the adapter.
6. Finally, assemble the power cable carefully by inserting it into the AUTOMATiQ hub interface (C).
