See how to assemble a sprocket onto any Enviolo hub, with different sprocket types.
Backward compatibility
This guide is compatible with legacy 135mm solid axle hubs (Commercial/CO, Sportive/SP, Cargo/CA, N360, N380, N380SE), and 148mm modular axle hubs (Sportive/SP, and Cargo/CA).
Compatible sprockets
Enviolo hubs support 9-spline sprockets. Sprockets are grouped into 4 different assembly procedures:
- A - 16-tooth flat sprockets
- B - 17 to 22-tooth flat sprockets
- C - 20-tooth offset sprockets
- D - 22 to 28-tooth Gates Carbon Drive SureFIT sprockets
- E - 22 to 26-tooth Gates Carbon Drive E9 sprockets

Assembly options
A - 16-tooth flat sprocket
Tools
- Small flat screwdriver
Instructions
- Remove the anti-shift retainer (A) by pulling it firmly away from the hub.
- Place a 1mm spacer (C) before the sprocket.
- Assemble a standard 9-spline 3/32 inch (2.3mm) sprocket, with the flat side facing the hub.
- Place another 1mm spacer (C) after the sprocket.
- Secure it with a snap ring with the help of the screwdriver.
- Refit the anti-shift retainer (A), or install a hub interface.
B - 17 to 22-tooth flat sprocket
Tools
- Small flat screwdriver
Instructions
- Remove the anti-shift retainer (A) by pulling it firmly away from the hub.
- Assemble a standard 9-spline 3/32 inch (2.3mm) sprocket (B) with the flat side facing the hub.
- Place the supplied spacer (C) after the sprocket.
- Secure it with a snap ring with the help of the screwdriver.
- Refit the anti-shift retainer (A), or install a hub interface.
C - 20-tooth offset sprocket
Tools
- Small flat screwdriver
Instructions
- Remove the anti-shift retainer (A) by pulling it firmly away from the hub.
- Assemble a 9-spline 3mm offset sprocket (B), with the offset facing inward and moving the chain closer to the hub.
- Place the supplied spacer (C) after the sprocket.
- Secure it with a snap ring with the help of the screwdriver.
- Refit the anti-shift retainer (A), or install a hub interface.
Note
You can use single-speed chains (1/8") with a 3mm offset sprocket.
D - 22 to 28-tooth Gates sprocket
Tools
- Small flat screwdriver
-
Gates SureFit installer tool (recommended)
- The gates sprocket is the easiest to assemble when using the Gates sprocket tool.
Instructions
- Remove the anti-shift retainer (A) by pulling it firmly away from the hub.
- Assemble a 9-spline 3mm Gates Carbon Drive sprocket, with the offset facing inward and moving the chain closer to the hub.
- Use the Gates SureFit installer tool to make sure the sprocket is fully seated.
- Secure it with a snap ring with the help of the screwdriver.
- Refit the anti-shift retainer (A), or install a hub interface.
Note: for Gates Carbon Drive sprockets, the 1mm spacer is not required.
Using spacers
The sprocket spacer is intended for sprockets that are 3/32 inch (2.3mm) thick at the inner diameter. If the inner diameter is 0.17-0.18 inch (4.3-4.5mm) thick, like Gates belt sprockets, the spacer should not be used.
Finalise by securing the sprocket
To conclude the sprocket assembly, do one of the following:
- Assemble an Enviolo Automatic hub interface (AHI):
- Assemble a Manual hub interface (MHI):
- Or, refit the anti-shift retainer (A).
Secure the hub after sprocket installation to avoid deregulation
Immediately fit an interface or use an anti-shift retainer after assembling the sprocket. Otherwise, the hub may deregulate - if that happens, you will to wither calibrate the hub or reset to full overdrive.
Compatible chains and belts
For chains, chainline, Gates belts and beltline information, please see this guide: Compatible sprockets, chainlines, and beltlines for enviolo hubs.
Do not use incompatible chains
If you use incompatible chains, this can lead to interference with the hub interface and damage to hub components and may result in dangerous ride conditions for the rider.
