See how to assemble the rear wheel onto the bike frame – with an Enviolo Automatic (AutomatiQ) and a 135mm solid axle hub.
Backward compatibility
This guide is compatible with legacy Enviolo and NuVinci 135mm solid axle hubs.
Exercise caution when assembling the no-turn washers
Improper installation of the no-turn washers may result in damage to the dropout and the hub. Over-tightening may damage parts. Under-tightening can result in the axle sliding in the dropouts.

Tools
- 15mm wrench
- Torque wrench
- 15mm long socket
- 17mm long socket (only for Extreme hub)
Assembly instructions
- Place the rear wheel into the frame.
- Make sure not to obstruct or pinch the wire harness and main connector.
- Orient the chain around the AUTOMATiQ hub interface and onto the sprocket.
- In some cases, it is easiest to remove the chain from the front chainring to ease rear wheel assembly.
- Locate the rear wheel speed sensor boss on the AUTOMATiQ Hub Interface.
- The chain should not catch on this sensor when fitting the wheel.
- Slide one non-turn washer (A) each onto each axle end.
- The serrations of the non-turn washer must bear against the dropout of the frame.
- The rectangular boss must engage in the dropout of the frame.
- Mount the axle nuts (B) and tighten to 30-40Nm.
- Finally, assemble the power cable carefully by inserting it into the AUTOMATiQ hub interface (C).
Next steps
By now, you should have an Enviolo Automatic mounted on the eBike. The next step depends:
New interface - upload new configuration
Upload a new configuration if you:
- Installed a new Enviolo Automatic;
- Reused an Enviolo Automatic on a different eBike model;
- Want a fresh configuration install.
Next steps:
- Get a configuration QR: Generate a QR code to configure the Enviolo Automatic (AutomatiQ)
- See configuration steps: How to configure the Enviolo Automatic (AutomatiQ) using the Enviolo app
Reused interface - skip to calibration
Skip to calibration if you reinstalled a used Enviolo Automatic on the same eBike model as before The configuration should be the same. The interface now only needs to calibrate to work.
Auto calibration
Auto calibration is the best way to calibrate the Enviolo Automatic – available since firmware version R48 and V10. To update your firmware, see: How to update the Enviolo Automatic with the latest firmware version
Auto calibration keeps the system optimized
If your system is up to date – latest app and firmware – the Enviolo Automatic will passively calibrate while riding. It is the best way to keep your system optimised.
Manual calibration
Manual calibration of the Enviolo Automatic is only required when using older firmware versions (pre-firmware R48 and V10) and after one of the following:
- After the initial assembly of the e-bike.
- When the automatic hub interface was removed for maintenance reasons.
- When the system does not work properly.
