Problem diagnosis
The system can not be calibrated, because it either does not start or it does not confirm a successful calibration. This may be happening for a number of reasons, covered in the step-by-step solution below.
Step-by-step solution
To fix the problem, follow these steps:
- Check if the correct hub interface is assembled (40T vs 44T).
- We have two spline sizes, one with 40 teeth (Cargo, Heavy Duty, and Extreme) and 44 teeth (all other hubs). Please check you have the right interface for the right hub.
- Make sure the power cable is connected properly.
-
If the LED is not lighting up, it means calibration was unsuccessful. But the interface needs to be powered.
-
- Check that the input magnet ring is assembled on the sprocket.
-
The system comes with a sprocket magnet ring that must be secured onto the assembled sprocket snap ring. The twelve magnets on the sprocket magnet ring provide a pedal cadence for the system.
-
- Check that both magnet rings have all magnets.
-
The sprocket magnet rings come with twelve little magnets the bigger output ring with six magnets, please check if these are all there. Might be necessary to replace the magnet ring.
-
- Ensure that you are pedaling smoothly and consistently for at least 12 seconds at speeds higher than 15km/h.
-
For a successful calibration make sure you are pedaling smoothly and consistently for at least 12 seconds with a speed above 15 km/h.
-
- Ensure that you are using firmware 4.0.5.
- Older firmware could cause unsuccessful calibration. See this article for instructions.
